“ONE JERSEY” is a phrase that ties the common uniform that our participants wear to an attitude of togetherness that unifies our organization. It also speaks to our unifying goal of being an inclusive program that principally serves under-resourced communities across New Jersey. We want to be the program of choice for young peer influencing talent (“ambassadors”) within New Jersey. We are One Jersey™ working for all New Jersey.
Who We Are
New Jersey Scholars (NJSE) is a community based organization that within a few years has become one of the most well-known brands in the tri-state area and nationally.
NJSE uniquely uses the power of sports to drive improved community outcomes including educational attainment levels.
NJSE has broad goals and a unique impact model that leverages the pyramid of influence at the community and school level.
Elite Athletic Programs
NJSE has developed our brand through strategic player acquisition, excellent training and development, and building relationships with schools and communities. Our high-profile staff represent the best in the youth basketball business.
NJSE has received local and national media recognition. Numerous articles and media mentions include ESPN, New York Times, and New Jersey Ledger. The NJSE class of 2023 had three McDonald's All-Americans.
Community Impact
While NJSE utilizes sports excellence and success in the playing arena as a core component, we are not a sports first organization that measures success by wins and losses. We believe outstanding sports achievements and visibility provide us with a powerful platform.
Our program, staff and players resonate and connect with local students and communities in a way that allows us to provide services to support better socioeconomic outcomes.
College For Many
Individuals with a bachelor's degree earn significantly more than those with only a high school diploma. The earnings differential over a lifetime approaches $1 million. Higher educational attainment is also correlated with lower unemployment rates, better health outcomes, and increased civic engagement.
Elite youth basketball players have voices that can be amplified to create a college going culture and improve college attainment rates within their communities. NJSE has a model for this impact.
